THE CHINESE FROM EPIDAURUS

In the ancient theatre of Epidaurus, a young woman climbs the tiers as the arena opens out behind her like an ancient world. Her gaze towards the lens connects the present moment to the centuries of voices and gestures that have inhabited these stones. The Chinese from Epidaurus captures this encounter between a fragile presence and the monumentality of a collective memory that remains vividly human.

The Great Wall by Ramin Djawadi gives the ascent an epic scale. Percussion, strings and brass seem to make the tiers of Epidaurus resonate like the ramparts of a civilisation. The music turns each step into a symbolic passage, connecting the young woman to a legacy greater than herself, between courage, history and transmission.
