DESERT COUCH
In the midst of the desert, an abandoned sofa retains the shape of a vanished presence. Its worn cushions, given over to wind and dust, seem to await travellers who will never return. An object of comfort turned ruin, it measures the fragility of our traces against immensity. Around it, silence transforms the absurd into a solitary monument, almost eternal and futile.

MAURICE JARRE
Overture from the film LAWRENCE OF ARABIA
The majestic accents of the Overture from Lawrence of Arabia lend the landscape a mythical scale. Strings and brass open up the horizon, turning the abandoned sofa into the unlikely remnant of a vanished epic. The music does not fill the void: it enlarges it, making this solitude at once futile, grandiose and timeless.
