In Meudon, a tiny silhouette moves beneath a monumental line of bare trees. Their gnarled trunks form a nave, their branches a taut script against the winter sky. The man seems to be passing through a sanctuary shaped by time. Before these motionless giants, his presence reveals not so much his solitude as the fragile measure of our passage through the living world that surpasses us.
