NIGHT WALK

Along the Seine, a man walks alone across a quay cut through by the light of a streetlamp. The steps, shadows and slanting lines form a film noir setting. His face appears for a moment, suspended between movement and thought. The night envelops him, while the invisible river seems to silently accompany this inward walk, almost secret and endless.

Générique from the film ASCENSEUR POUR L’ÉCHAFAUD

0:000:00

Miles Davis’s trumpet slips into the shadows with the slowness of a solitary step. Each note briefly illuminates the pavement, then lets the silence return. This piece turns the walk into anticipation, the city into a confidence. Between tension and melancholy, it seems to accompany an invisible decision, on the edge of the night.
