MOTHER & DAUGHTER

Istanbul, Turkey

April 2025

In Taksim, a mother pushes her daughter through the crowds of Istanbul. The child points towards the horizon, cardboard crowns in hand, while her mother watches over her with a calm smile. Around them, signs, passers-by and political memory overlap. Mother and Daughter captures this simple tenderness moving through an immense, contradictory and deeply vibrant city, never slowing down.

A Town With An Ocean View accompanies the scene with Joe Hisaishi’s luminous lightness. Piano and strings give the pushchair the momentum of a journey. Like Kiki discovering an unfamiliar city, the child looks ahead while her mother guides her. The music turns their walk into a tender adventure.
