DREAMS ON HOLD

On a street in Istanbul, a teenager sits on a scooter, motionless at the edge of the movement. The slope draws the eye towards a city that carries on without him. His hand resting on his face, his dangling foot and his absent gaze tell of the fragile waiting of an age when dreams already exist, but leaving still seems impossible.

Truman Sleeps from the film THE TRUMAN SHOW

0:000:00

The repeating motifs of Truman Sleeps envelop the scene in an almost unreal softness. Philip Glass’s piano gives waiting the shape of a waking dream, while the street becomes both setting and boundary. The music suggests a world ready to open up, if only the boy dares to leave it.
