ATHENIAN LONELINESS

The city seems to have left the stage. In a still-lit street in Athens, a young woman remains seated, alone. Around her, the façades, metal shutters and graffiti form the silent setting of a story whose beginning and end we will never know. Perhaps she is waiting for someone. Perhaps she simply has nowhere to go. For a moment, the whole city seems to share her solitude.

With Roxane’s Veil, silence becomes almost tangible. The violin guides the eye towards the figure, then seems to lose itself in the depth of the street. The music opens an inner space that the photograph alone does not reveal. The scene is no longer merely nocturnal. It becomes melancholy, intimate, almost unreal.
